Cynthia Nixon is an American actress and activist. She is best known for her portrayal of Miranda Hobbes in the series ‘Sex and the City.’
Besides the acting industry, Nixon has also contributed much to the world of politics, believe it or not. Back on March 19, 2018, Nixon announced her campaign for Governor of New York against Democratic Andrew Cuomo. Her campaign advocated income inequality, renewable energy, universal health care, and much more.
While she may have lost to Cuomo in 2018, she continues to be an advocate for good causes in the United States, such as LGBT rights. She is a member of the community herself and actually met her wife at a 2002 gay rights rally.
In addition to her Tony and Emmy awards, she has an Artist for Equality award, which she received from Yale University in 2013, as well as a Visibility Award, which she received from the Human Rights Campaign in 2018.
