A EuroMillions lottery winner ran out of luck when he lost control of his 202mph Ferrari and crashed it into a field.

Ryan Magee, who won £6.4 million in 2008, was driving the Ferrari 458 Italia in treacherous conditions when the icy road got the better of him.

He crashed through a barbed wire fence - snapping a heavy wooden fence post in the process - before crashing over a series of large rocks and ending up in a bush.

The Ferrari, which costs from £173,000 new, only appeared to suffer minor damage following the incident, which took place on a notorious road near Londonderry, Northern Ireland.

An onlooker said: 'The road was in a treacherous condition that morning, covered with a mix of frozen hail and snow.

'Locals were amazed Ryan was driving the Ferrari in that weather, especially when he had a more suitable Range Rover he could use.'

The Ferrari was not understood to be running on winter tyres which, while costing around £4,400, hugely boost grip and handling in icy conditions.

Mr Magee, an IT expert, won the EuroMillions after buying 11 tickets in four separate towns.

The 30-year-old was one of six people in the UK to share the £95 million jackpot, with ten others across Europe also winning.

He immediately splashed out on a Ferrari F430 Spider - and was fined £200 earlier this year after he admitted driving it while using his mobile phone.
