Omar Apollo is an American singer-songwriter who sings both in English and Spanish. He is well-known for his laid-back retro-soul and R&B sound.

Omar Apollo was born Omar Apolonio Velasco on May 20, 1997, in Hobart, Indiana. As of 2023, his age is 25. Talking about his family, he is the youngest of his Mexican parents’ three children. Living with gang violence in Guadalajara, his father crossed the border at age 23 but visited his mother who was still in Mexico. She joined him in the US in 1992. Together, they opened the local restaurant, ‘The Super Taco’, and worked endlessly to raise their kids. In 2009, they became American citizens.

A year later, the song crossed 15 million streams on the platform. In 2018, he released his first EP, ‘Stereo’ which was well received by the critics and increased his followers. He followed his success by touring different parts of Indianapolis, Bloomington, and Chicago. He went on tours titled ‘Want Tour’ and the ‘Voyager Tour’. In April 2019, he released his second EP titled ‘Friends’.

It featured production by the well-reputed producer John Shanks. He grew closer with Shanks and is managed by his son, Dylan, who he met on Twitter when Dylan booked him for a university show at New York University. In 2017, he signed with ‘Artists Without A Label’ and performed at SXSW.

In 2019, he went on his first European tour and played at Lollapalooza. Collaborating with producer Kenny Beats, he released hit singles, ‘Frio’ and ‘Hit Me Up’ in late 2019.
